The 400 millions of Internet users who exist in Asia are just the 10% of the total population of the continent, so the growth potential of users in the region is huge.
Getting based on the Alexa.com statistics, in 10 of the most visited websites of the World there are more Asian visitors (25.5%) than from EEUU (17.7%), or European Union (12.7%).
We think that the appearance of the .Asia domain will help to the Internet growth in the region creating a whole new space which will be a culture medium forum all that companies who has interests on the region.
Don’t matter if it is a local company getting expanded in the region, a SME or a multinational, the .Asia offers a value that involves a bigger affiliation sense with Asian community.
“Asia” is a term identified with the origin field, but the most important of .Asia is its potential. It allows companies and persons to create an important place for those who search relevant information about Asia, from Asia and for Asia.
For all this reasons Entorno Digital has decided to be a .Asia authorized register. This allows us to offer you the register of that kind of domains. We hope that this new domain will help you to begin or reinforce your activities in Asia, one of the main World markets thanks to the expansion that is reaching and its population and resources growth.
Requirements:
In order to register a .Asia domain, one of the domain contacts (Administrative contact, Technical contact…) must be an individual legal organization existing in one of the 73 countries defined by the ICANN.
Eligibility verification:
For each domain, the relevant contact will be subject to eligibility verification and it will be calls “CED contact”.
For each declaration, the contact has to give this information:
1.- The country code (ISO 3166 code)
2.- Type of legal entity type: physical persons, companies, cooperatives, government bodies…
3.- Form of identification: passport, company certificate or some equivalent register.
4.- Identification number/ reference code: passport number or number of business certificate…
During sunrise and Landrush phases CED’s will be automatically verified for each petition.
Aperture phases of the .Asia domain:
Sunrise
The sunrise phase has different phases:
Sunrise 1 (October of 2007): for government organs from the Asia-Pacific region
This phase is just for government and government organizations from the Asia-Pacific region. The requests will be processed by the rule: first come first served.
Sunrise 2 (from October to January from 2007): for trademarks owners
Sunrise 2a (from 9 of October to 30 of October)
For holder of trademarks in use registered before 16 of March 2004. The domain must coincide with the trademark.
The required documentation is the trademark certificate.
Sunrise 2b (from 13 of November to 15 of January 2008)
For holder of trademarks in use registered before 6 of December 2006. The domain must coincide with the trademark.
The required documentation is the trademark certificate.
Sunrise 2c (from 13 of November to 15 of January 2008)
In this phase is allowed the register of combinations between trademarks and description words from the class of this trademark. For example, if you own a trademark “ABC” in class 1: “chemical products”, you can request “ABC.asia” during SR2a/b but also “ABCquimicos.asia” in SR2c.
The required documentation is the trademark certificate.
Sunrise 3 (from 13 of November to 15 of January 2008): For holder of juridical entities
This phase is for the juridical entities (companies, cooperatives, societies…) from the Asia-Pacific region, they can register its juridical name with the .Asia domain. The physical persons may not register domains in this phase.
The required documentation is the trademark certificate.
Documentation would be presented in PDF or TIFF format. The file can be up to 400 Kb per page. Minimum resolution must be higher than 150x150 dpi.
For each sunrise register, the holder should give this information:
1.- The exact word or sentence which describes the trademark or company name.
2.- The trademark register number or the juridical entity name.
3.- The country in which is established the mark or entity (code which corresponds to the ISO 3166 of the name of the trademark office or company).
4.- Application data of the trademark or juridical entity.
5.- Register date of the trademark or juridical entity.
6.- Nature of the right (owner, joint owner…) or entity type (corporation, society…). In SR2C phase you must specify the kind of class or the trademark.
7.- The sunrise phase in which you want to request the domain: SR2a, SR2b, SR2c or SR3.
During validation phase, validation agent can request the register certificates official copies to be sent in a 10 days period.
Auction Process: If during the sunrise (SR2a, SR2b, SR2c, SR3) different candidates get the validation for the register of the same domain DotAsia an auction process will begin.
SR2a petitions will have preference against SR2b, SR2c and SR3 phases.
SR2b petitions will have preference against SR2c and SR3 phases.
Landrush (February of 2007, provisional date):
During this phase anyone could ask for domains .Asia. As long as they have not solicited anyone in Sunrise phase and they have a CED contact in the application. The register in this phase would be for 2 years minimum. If different persons get the validation for the same domain name DotAsia will auction it.
Free Phase:
During free phase anyone could ask for a .Asia domain, if you have a CED contact. In this phase, the first coming will be the one registering the domain. The register will be a 1 year minimum and 10 years maximum.
