Worldwide alargement of the registration of domains

The alargement of the domains on a global scale keeps increasing: According to Verisign at the end of the third trimester of 2006 they had already registered more than 112 million domains.
This means an increase of 30 % with regard to the previous year and 6 % with regard to the previous trimester.
The five extensions with more domains in the world in order are: .com, .de, .net, .uk and .org.
During the third trimester 9.4 million domains were registered, the
highest number registered in only one trimester.
Nevertheless, it was a number lower than the second trimester due to the liberation of
domain .eu these dates.
In reference to the territorial domains (ccTLD) they keep on growing. There is 248 ccTLD and five of them have experienced and important growth with regard to the previous trimester: .at (Austria), .es
(Spain), .fr (France), .ru (Russia), and .us (the United States).
All this information augurs us a good rhythm of growth in the registration of domains and the associated services with these (Hosting, mail, car park ...) for 2007.
